Terms of use

Last updated July 10, 2026

These terms cover your use of Password Rangers. They're short and written in plain language because the service itself is simple: a set of free tools that generate passwords in your browser. If anything here is unclear, email us at support@passwordrangers.com.

Acceptance of these terms

By using this site, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the site. That's the whole deal. We don't require accounts, sign-ups, or clicks on an "I agree" button, so continued use is how acceptance works here.

What the service is

Password Rangers is a free collection of password generation tools, including a strong password generator, a passphrase generator, a PIN generator, and several others. Everything runs in your browser using the Web Crypto API. Generated passwords never leave your device, and you can confirm that yourself in your browser's DevTools. The service is provided as-is, free of charge, with no accounts and no stored data. You can read more about how the tools work in our guide on whether online password generators are safe.

Your responsibilities

You decide where and how to use the passwords you generate, and you're responsible for keeping them safe. In practice that means a few things:

  • You choose which accounts get which passwords. We can't see what you generate, so we can't recover a password you lose. A password manager is the right place to store them.
  • You remain responsible for the security of your own accounts, including enabling protections like two-factor authentication where available.
  • The tools are for lawful use only. Don't use them to access accounts or systems you're not authorized to access.

No warranty

The tools are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't guarantee that the site will be available without interruption, free of errors, or fit for any particular purpose. We work to keep the generators accurate and reliable, but you use them at your own judgment.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we're not liable for any losses or damages arising from your use of this site. That includes, without limitation, account compromise, data loss, or lost profits, even if we've been advised such losses were possible. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

Intellectual property

The content on this site (text, design, code, and the Password Rangers name) belongs to us. You may not copy or republish it without permission. The passwords you generate are a different matter: they're yours. They're created on your device, we never see them, and we claim no rights over them whatsoever.

Third-party links and ads

Some pages link to external sites, such as NIST guidance or the EFF wordlists. Those sites have their own terms and privacy practices, which we don't control. The site also displays ads served by third parties, currently Google AdSense. Advertisers are responsible for the content of their ads and the sites they link to.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "last updated" date at the top of this page. If you keep using the site after a change, that counts as accepting the updated terms. We'd suggest checking back occasionally, though we don't expect these terms to change often.
